I need surgery for an ovarian cyst that I have (18 x 17 x 13) and I just wanted to know if anyone has any information about what recovery time was like for them, how they felt when they actually woke up from the surgery, and how they felt after the already came home from the surgery for a period of time. Thank you for any information that you may have concerning this!

I haven't had any removed because mine always ruptured and that hurts worse than having the surgery according to my dr. Give it two weeks and see how you feel. If nothing gets better and the dr.s dont' give you anything for pain ask for something. Good luck!

I am just over 12 weeks pregnant and I have to have surgery sometime in the next 4 weeks to have ovarian cysts removed. The largest cyst is just over 15cm, 10 cm, 8cm, and many smaller ones all of which are growing. What can I expect after surgery? How long does it take to heal? How soon before I can return to school afterwards? I'm assuming the pain that I am in now will be gone once the cysts are removed

Your ovarian cysts must be solid as the fluid ones can break on their own usually. If they are cysts and not desmoid tumors (as my daughter had those twice. Sometimes drs call them cysts instead.) it should be a basic removal that the dr. is not unfamiliar with doing. The dr. can best tell you what to expect in that recovery as they can gauge it on case studies. If they are smaller they can remove them with a scope which is a day patient basis procedure. IF there are alot of them then they don't likely do that and have to cut and remove them. I would suggest that you consult your dr. to see what way they are to be removed. My daughter had her first desmoid removed the old fashioned way of cutting open and taking it out as it grew to 15 lbs then as we didn't know what it was for a year even. The next time was just this month and she was a day patient , had the scope as it was small enough to take it out that way and she had surgical tape over the sites (3) where the scope had to enter for this. She got to remove the tape in a week but was improved by the 3rd day after the surgery this time. She was able to return to work in 5 days after this and not have a complaint or pain then either. Just remember 90% of what we worry about doesn't happen. Relax and when your body is ready to be back on track and fully functional you will feel the difference and know best then. My daughter scheduled this for when there was a school break. I highly recommend that for the best healing time.
